The Brief

A hair, nails & beauty salon that needed a website to match the work.

Jeanette runs JS Hair Boutique — a well-established hair, nails and beauty salon based on Market Street in the heart of Atherton. With a 4.8-star Google rating and a loyal local clientele, the salon was thriving — but had no website. Bookings were coming in via phone and Instagram, and Jeanette wanted a proper online presence that reflected the quality of the work and gave new clients something to find when they searched.

The brief was deliberately focused: one page, done fast, done properly. No booking system, no blog, no unnecessary complexity — just a beautiful, fast-loading site that showcased the salon, the team's work, the reviews, and made it easy for anyone to get in touch and book. Every CTA on the site points to either the phone number or Instagram — matching how Jeanette actually runs her business.

The design direction was inspired by high-end international salon sites — dark, editorial, and confident — with the gold from the JS Boutique logo running through every section as the accent colour. The result is a site that feels premium without being inaccessible: warm, welcoming, and very much Jeanette's.

Our Approach

Five build decisions that shaped the final site.

Every Mako Digital build follows a documented approach — consistent across every project, calibrated to each client’s industry, brand, and customer journey.

01

Editorial design that reads premium without trying too hard

JS Boutique's reputation is high-end without being intimidating. The site needed to match. Dark backgrounds, gold accent colour pulled from the boutique's own logo, premium serif headlines, and generous typographic spacing. The visual language signals quality and care immediately — the same way the salon does when a new client walks through the door.

02

A one-page site that does exactly what Jeanette needs

No booking system, no blog, no email signup form, no unnecessary complexity. The site does five things brilliantly: shows the salon, shows the team's work, shows the reviews, gives the location and hours, and routes every CTA to either the phone number or Instagram. That matches how Jeanette actually runs her business. Adding a booking system she didn't need would have just been friction.

03

Photography front and centre

For a hair and beauty salon, the work IS the marketing. The site features Jeanette's actual portfolio — cuts, colours, nails, beauty treatments — not stock photography. Visitors see the quality before they read a single word of copy. The result is a site that converts on visual proof, not promises.

04

Built to rank for "hair salon Atherton" and surrounding areas

BeautySalon and HairSalon schema (specific LocalBusiness subtypes Google recognises), proper geo-coordinates for the Market Street location, accurate opening hours in structured data, and page copy that mentions Atherton, Tyldesley, Hindsford, and the surrounding catchment Jeanette serves. The site ranks for the searches that turn into bookings.

05

A site Jeanette owns outright

Hosted on Hostinger, built on WordPress, no proprietary platform. Jeanette owns the site outright after handover. As her work evolves, as new portfolio pieces are added, as the team grows, the site grows with her — through the WordPress admin, no developer required for routine updates.

FAQs

Common questions about the JS Boutique build.

How much did the JS Boutique website cost?

JS Boutique took our standard one-page custom WordPress build at £149.99 fixed. That includes bespoke editorial design, full local SEO setup, BeautySalon and HairSalon schema markup, Google Search Console submission, opening hours in structured data, and Google Maps integration. No add-on fees, no monthly retainer.

Why one page instead of multiple pages?

Because Jeanette didn't need more. A one-page site does five things brilliantly — shows the salon, shows the work, shows the reviews, gives location/hours, and routes to phone or Instagram. Adding service-detail pages, a blog, or a booking system would have created friction without adding value. One properly built page that matches how the business actually operates outperforms a multi-page site full of filler every time.

How long did the JS Boutique build take?

One week from brief to live. One-page builds at Mako Digital typically ship in five to seven working days when the brief is clear and the photography is ready.

Why no booking system on a salon website?

Because Jeanette runs bookings through phone and Instagram, and that works for her. Adding an online booking system she didn't want would have been a feature for the sake of the website, not for the business. Every CTA on the site points to either the phone number or Instagram — matching how the salon actually operates. The right tech is whatever serves the business.

Can a one-page site rank for local salon searches?

Yes — Google ranks pages, not sites. A well-built one-page site with proper BeautySalon/HairSalon schema, fast load speed, and content that genuinely answers customer queries will rank for focused local terms. The page count doesn't determine ranking; the build quality does.

What schema markup does Mako Digital include for salons?

BeautySalon and HairSalon (specific LocalBusiness subtypes Google recognises), opening hours specification (so the actual hours appear in Google search results), geo-coordinates, address, telephone, and FAQPage where relevant. All standard, none charged as an extra.

Where else does Mako Digital build websites in Atherton?

Across Atherton, Tyldesley, Hindsford, Howe Bridge, Astley, Mosley Common, and the wider Wigan borough. See Web Design Atherton for the local service breakdown, or browse the case study archive for more examples.

Can I book at JS Hair Boutique?

Yes — visit jsboutique.co.uk to see the salon, the team's work, and how to get in touch. Bookings are by phone or Instagram. Market Street, Atherton.
