The Brief

A landscaping & garden design who needed a website to match the work.

Brabazon Landscaping is a Bristol-based landscaping and garden design company working on premium residential projects across Bristol and North Somerset. The work is design-led, the finishes are immaculate, and the client base is discerning. The website needed to match.

The brief: a premium, editorial, trustworthy site that made the decision easy for high-spend homeowners researching a landscaper. Not a portfolio dump. Not a list of services. A site that read like a magazine feature about a craftsperson — quality of imagery, pace of typography, weight of design.

The brand identity already existed — a GD brick monogram with a slate / teal / copper palette — and the colour direction was deliberate. We built around it: Playfair Display for editorial weight in the typography, Inter for clean readability in the body, and a generous, breathing layout that lets the imagery speak.

Our Approach

Five build decisions that shaped the final site.

Every Mako Digital build follows a documented approach — consistent across every project, calibrated to each client’s industry, brand, and customer journey.

01

Editorial pacing over feature density

Most agency sites for tradespeople try to fit every service, testimonial, and credential onto every page. The Brabazon brief was the opposite: pace the content, let the imagery breathe, treat each page as an editorial piece. Generous whitespace, large typographic moments, and a deliberate slow-scroll pace that signals craft over commodity.

02

A portfolio gallery built for storytelling

Landscaping work is visual — before, after, and during shots tell more than any service description. The site's portfolio gallery is structured around individual project stories: client brief, site challenges, design approach, finished result. Browseable, filterable, and built to convert browsers into enquirers by establishing competence at a glance.

03

Brand-led visual foundation

The slate / teal / copper palette was non-negotiable. We built the entire visual system around it: Playfair Display in italic for headlines (editorial weight), Inter for body (clean readability), copper as the accent colour for CTAs and links, slate-grey as the dominant tone. The result feels unmistakably Brabazon — not another generic landscaping template.

04

Local SEO calibrated to the Bristol catchment

Brabazon works across Bristol and North Somerset — Clifton, Redland, Henleaze, Long Ashton, Portishead, Clevedon. The site's local SEO setup reflects that real catchment: areaServed schema declarations, page copy that mentions actual project locations, and search-intent matching for queries like "landscaper Bristol", "garden designer Clifton", "premium landscape design North Somerset".

05

A site Brabazon owns outright

Hosted on Hostinger, built on WordPress, no proprietary platform. Brabazon owns the site outright after handover. No monthly subscription fee, no platform lock-in, no dependency on Mako Digital to keep things running. We support and maintain by choice, not because we hold the keys.

FAQs

Common questions about the Brabazon build.

How much did the Brabazon Landscaping website cost?

Brabazon took our standard five-page custom WordPress build at £449 fixed. That includes bespoke editorial design, full local SEO setup, schema markup, portfolio gallery setup, Google Search Console submission, email configuration, and hosting setup. No add-on fees, no monthly retainer.

How long did the Brabazon build take?

Three weeks from initial brief to live site. The longer timeline reflects the editorial design pacing and the portfolio gallery setup — most five-page builds at Mako Digital ship in two weeks, but premium tier projects with photography integration take longer to do properly.

Why use WordPress for a landscaping company website?

WordPress is self-hosted and the client owns the site outright — no monthly subscription, no platform lock-in. For a landscaping company specifically, WordPress also makes it straightforward to add new portfolio entries as projects complete — no need to ring the agency every time you finish a build.

Why is editorial design the right approach for a premium landscaper?

Premium landscaping clients are visual buyers researching carefully before committing significant spend. A site that reads like a magazine feature — generous typography, large imagery, paced content — signals craft and quality in a way that a feature-dense template never can. The design itself is the credibility signal.

What kind of schema markup does Mako Digital include for landscapers?

LocalBusiness with appropriate subtypes (GeneralContractor for design-build companies), Service entities for each specialism (garden design, hard landscaping, planting), FAQPage where relevant, and BreadcrumbList for site hierarchy. All standard, none charged as an extra.

Do landscaping companies need a website outside their local catchment?

For most, no — landscaping is local. The site should rank brilliantly within the catchment area (Bristol and North Somerset for Brabazon) rather than aspirationally targeting the whole of the South West. Concentrated local SEO outperforms wide-but-shallow SEO every time for trade businesses.

Where else does Mako Digital build for landscaping and outdoor trades?

Brabazon is our flagship landscaping build, but the same approach applies to garden designers, paving companies, fencing contractors, and arborists. See Web Design for Landscapers Wigan for the service breakdown, or browse the case study archive for more trade business examples.

Is Brabazon Landscaping a real Bristol business?

Yes. Brabazon Landscaping is a registered UK company based in Bristol working across Bristol and North Somerset on premium residential landscaping and garden design projects. The website at brabazonlandscapes.co.uk is the live site — visit it to see the build in production.
