A proper Wigan tyre garage that needed a proper website

Prime Tyres is a tyre specialist based in Wigan — offering tyre fitting, wheel alignment, wheel balancing, puncture repairs, and a full range of tyre services for cars, vans, and 4x4s. A proper local garage with a loyal customer base built on years of quality service.

The problem: their online presence didn't reflect the quality of what they do on the forecourt. In a trade where customers search "tyres near me" on their phones while standing next to a flat tyre, the website needed to be fast, mobile-first, and unmistakably local. Google needed to know what Prime Tyres do, where they are, and what they offer — and potential customers needed a site that told them the same thing in under five seconds.

The brief: a bold, confident site that matched the black-and-red automotive feel of the brand, with proper local SEO baked in from the ground up.

Bold design meets proper technical SEO
01

Design Direction

The palette is black and red throughout — bold, automotive, and unmistakable. Heavy typography, full-bleed hero sections, and imagery that puts the garage and the work front and centre. No stock photography of generic tyre racks — this is a local business and the site looks like one.

02

Drawer Navigation & Parallax Heroes

We went with a drawer navigation instead of a traditional top bar — a hamburger icon triggers a slide-in panel that works identically on mobile and desktop. This gives the parallax hero sections maximum impact and keeps the mobile experience clean. The primary CTAs (call, quote, directions) stay above the fold on every breakpoint.

03

FAQ Accordions with JSON-LD Schema

Every service page and the homepage include an FAQ accordion with proper FAQPage schema embedded as JSON-LD. This means Google can display the questions and answers directly in search results — giving Prime Tyres more real estate on the results page and higher click-through rates. Common questions about tyre fitting, alignment pricing, and same-day service are all covered.

04

HTTPS Migration & Technical Fixes

All internal URLs were corrected to HTTPS to eliminate mixed-content warnings and ensure SSL works cleanly across every page. Redirects tested, canonical tags verified, and the site now passes all major technical SEO audits.

05

Schema, GSC & Sitemap Submission

Schema markup covers AutomotiveBusiness, Service, FAQPage, and BreadcrumbList across all pages — giving Google the full picture of what Prime Tyres does. Google Search Console verified, Yoast sitemap submitted on launch, and the site indexed within days.

Common questions about motor trade website design
Yes. Prime Tyres is a great example — a bold, no-nonsense custom WordPress build for a Wigan tyre garage that needed a site to match the quality of service they deliver. We build websites regularly for motor trade businesses including tyre fitters, MOT centres, garages, mechanics, and mobile tyre services across Greater Manchester and the wider UK.
Prime Tyres is a tyre specialist based in Wigan offering tyre fitting, wheel alignment, wheel balancing, puncture repairs, and a full range of tyre services for cars, vans, and 4x4s. A proper local garage with proper local service.
A drawer navigation is a slide-in menu panel triggered by a hamburger icon, used instead of a traditional horizontal navigation bar. We chose it for Prime Tyres because it keeps the mobile experience clean and focused — important for a site where the primary CTA is "call the garage" or "request a quote". On desktop the drawer still activates, giving the hero sections maximum impact without a cluttered top bar competing for attention.
FAQ schema (FAQPage JSON-LD) is structured data that tells Google a section of your page contains questions and answers. When implemented correctly, Google can display those questions directly in search results — giving you more real estate on the results page and increasing click-through rates. For Prime Tyres we added FAQ schema to the homepage and service pages covering common questions about tyre fitting, alignment, and pricing.
Yes. Mako Digital is based in Wigan and we build bespoke WordPress websites for local trades and motor industry businesses across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, and Cheshire. If you run a tyre garage, MOT centre, mechanic, body shop, or mobile automotive service, we can build you a site that actually brings in work.
For Prime Tyres we implemented AutomotiveBusiness schema (a specific sub-type of LocalBusiness), covering name, address, phone, opening hours, services offered, and area served. This is combined with FAQPage schema on relevant pages, BreadcrumbList across all templates, and Service schema for individual offerings like wheel alignment and puncture repair. The result: Google understands exactly what Prime Tyres does, where they are, and what they offer — which is the foundation of local SEO for any trade business.
