The Brief

An events business losing money to the gap between enquiry and quote.

Silent Disco Club supplies wireless headphone systems for events across the North West and the UK, from their base in Preston, Lancashire — weddings, festivals, corporate parties, school and university events, bars and nightclubs, and private hires in unusual venues.

The problem was never demand, it was the shape of the enquiry. Every job prices differently depending on headphone count, event type, duration and extras, so a standard contact form produced enquiries with none of the information needed to quote. Every one of them meant a phone call before a price could even be discussed, and the ones that arrived at 11pm on a Saturday were often gone by Monday.

The brief: stop treating the website as a leaflet. Build something that qualifies and prices the job at the moment the customer is interested, records it properly, chases it if it goes quiet, and gives the team one place to run the bookings from — while ranking separately for each of the eight very different event types they get hired for.

Our Approach

Five build decisions that shaped the final site.

Every Mako Digital build follows a documented approach — consistent across every project, calibrated to each client’s industry, brand, and customer journey.

01

Eight event types, eight proper landing pages

A silent disco booked for a wedding and a silent disco booked for a school are two different sales conversations, and two different searches. Rather than one catch-all services page, we built eight dedicated event-type pages — weddings, kids & teen parties, bars & nightclubs, festivals, schools & universities, unique venues, corporate events, and rooftops & private parties — each with its own copy, its own imagery, its own FAQs and its own schema. Every one of them can rank on its own terms instead of competing with the other seven.

02

A quote builder, not a contact form

The single biggest change to how this business converts. Instead of "fill in the form and we'll get back to you", the visitor picks their event type, headphone count, date and extras and gets a priced quote on the spot, with a quote reference, delivered by branded email while the office gets its own copy. Enquiries arrive already qualified, already priced, and already recorded — and the customer never has to wait for a callback to find out roughly what it costs.

03

A back office that lives on the site

Every quote, custom quote request, contact enquiry and event lands in a bespoke password-protected dashboard built into the site itself — not the WordPress admin, and not a third-party CRM with a monthly bill. Orders carry statuses and internal notes, custom quotes can be priced and sent from the dashboard, events are added and edited in place, and everything exports to CSV. The team runs the business from one screen they already know how to use.

04

Follow-up that happens whether anyone remembers or not

Two pieces of quiet automation do the chasing. Enquirer details are captured before the form is finished, so someone who drops out halfway is still a lead rather than lost traffic. And a scheduled job chases unconverted quotes automatically with a branded follow-up email. Neither depends on anyone remembering to do it on a Monday morning, which is exactly when a busy events business forgets.

05

Structured for the way people actually search

Thirteen templates carry hand-written structured data — Organization, Service, FAQ, breadcrumbs, sitelinks search, and a ten-step HowTo graph on the how-it-works page describing the hire process end to end. Combined with the eight event-type pages, that gives Google a clear map of what this business does, who it does it for, and where it does it: Preston and Lancashire locally, the North West and UK-wide for the bigger bookings.

The Mako Digital Standard

Silent Disco Club Case Study: Mako Digital designed and built a custom WordPress website with an instant quote builder for Silent Disco Club, a silent disco and event entertainment hire company based in Preston, Lancashire. The build delivered a bespoke theme coded from scratch across 20 pages, a live pricing engine, automated quote follow-up, a password-protected booking dashboard, eight event-type landing pages, and hand-written schema markup on 13 templates.

This is the build we point event, hire and entertainment businesses at when they ask whether a website can do more than collect enquiries. The same approach suits marquee and AV hire, mobile bars, entertainment agencies and event production — anyone whose pricing depends on more variables than a contact form can capture. See our Web Design for Wedding Venues page, our Custom CRM Development service, or visit the case study archive for more examples.

FAQs

Common questions about the Silent Disco Club build.

What did Mako Digital build for Silent Disco Club?

A bespoke 20-page WordPress website with an instant quote builder, a custom booking dashboard, an events system, and eight dedicated event-type landing pages. The theme is hand-coded from scratch — over 26,000 lines of custom PHP and CSS, no page builder, no off-the-shelf template. It covers everything from the first search to the quote landing in the customer's inbox and the booking being managed by the team.

Can you build a website with an instant quote calculator?

Yes — the Silent Disco Club build is the worked example. The visitor selects their event type, headphone numbers, date and extras, and the site prices it live, issues a quote reference, emails a branded quote to the customer and a copy to the office, and logs the whole thing for the team to pick up. It is hand-built for the client's actual pricing model rather than bolted on with a generic form plugin, so the numbers are always right.

How much does a website with a booking or quote system cost?

Standard brochure websites start from £449 and five-page builds from £999. A build with a custom quote engine, automated email journeys and a bespoke admin dashboard sits above that, because the functionality is written specifically for how the business prices and takes bookings. Get in touch with what you need and we will price it properly rather than guessing.

Do you build websites for event and entertainment companies?

Yes. Event, hire and entertainment businesses have a specific problem — enquiries arrive with no detail, pricing depends on a dozen variables, and half of them never get followed up. That is exactly what this build was designed around: qualify the enquiry at the point of interest, price it instantly, and automate the chase. The same approach works for marquee hire, AV hire, mobile bars, entertainment agencies and event production.

Why build a custom admin dashboard instead of using the WordPress admin?

Because the people running the business are not WordPress administrators, and they should not have to be. The dashboard shows orders, quotes, enquiries and events in the language of the business, with the statuses and notes the team actually uses, behind its own password rather than a WordPress user account. It also means the client is not paying a monthly subscription to a third-party CRM to see their own bookings.

Can the website take payments online?

Stripe Checkout is built into the quote flow and ready to activate — the site currently runs in quote-first mode, where the customer receives a priced quote and confirms with the team. Switching card payments on is a configuration change rather than a rebuild, so the client can move to paid-online deposits whenever it suits the business.

Do you build websites for businesses in Preston and Lancashire?

Yes. Mako Digital is based in Wigan and works across the North West, including Preston, Chorley, Leyland and the wider Lancashire area — see our Chorley web design page or the full coverage map at /web-design-near-me/. Silent Disco Club is a Preston-based client; distance has never been the deciding factor on a build.

Is Silent Disco Club a real business?

Yes. Silent Disco Club is a silent disco and event entertainment hire company based in Preston, Lancashire, covering the North West and the rest of the UK. The live site is at silentdiscoclub.co.uk — visit it to see the quote builder in production.
