The Brief

A multi-division recruitment agency that needed a website to match the work.

Resolve Recruitment Services is a multi-division staffing agency with offices in Bristol and Wigan, supplying temporary and permanent staff across driving, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, and professional services. With a 169,000+ candidate database and over 50 years of combined industry experience, they needed a website that could keep pace with the operation.

The brief: migrate from Wix to WordPress, rebuild the public site, AND build an internal staff portal that runs the day-to-day recruitment operation. Candidate pipeline management, compliance tracking, document uploads, timesheet handling, application processing — all in one custom-built platform that the existing Wix site simply couldn't support.

On top of that: a fully integrated job board with Google JobPosting schema for Google for Jobs visibility, an AI-powered chatbot for 24/7 candidate and client engagement, and dedicated pages for each of the five recruitment divisions. A genuine multi-product build done over multiple phases.

Our Approach

Five build decisions that shaped the final site.

Every Mako Digital build follows a documented approach — consistent across every project, calibrated to each client’s industry, brand, and customer journey.

01

Wix-to-WordPress migration with zero downtime

The existing Wix site held years of organic listings, established Google rankings, and a fragile setup that wouldn't scale to support an internal portal. We migrated the domain to Hostinger, built a fully custom WordPress theme from scratch, rewrote the content for SEO, set up the redirect map to preserve every existing inbound link, and ensured email continuity throughout the move. Zero downtime, no email disruption, and a measurable improvement in search visibility from launch day.

02

Job board with Google for Jobs schema

A custom job board sits inside the WordPress build, not bolted on. Each job posting carries proper JobPosting schema declaring the role, employer, location, salary, and application route — the markup Google needs to surface jobs in the Google for Jobs panel. The result is free visibility for live vacancies on Google's job search interface, without any third-party job board subscription fees.

03

Five-division recruitment architecture

Resolve operate across five distinct recruitment verticals — driving, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, and professional services. Each gets its own dedicated section with appropriate language, audience focus, and call-to-action targeting. A driver searching for "HGV jobs Bristol" lands on the driving page; a hospital looking to fill a healthcare role lands on the healthcare page. One coherent brand identity threading through five distinct service offerings.

04

Internal staff portal as a custom WordPress build

The internal portal is where the recruitment business actually runs day-to-day — candidate pipeline management, compliance tracking, document uploads, timesheet handling, application processing. Built as custom WordPress page templates with custom database tables, role-based access control, and an admin interface designed around how recruiters actually work. Not a plugin, not a SaaS subscription — a bespoke platform Resolve own outright.

05

AI chatbot for 24/7 engagement

Recruitment never sleeps — candidates apply at all hours, clients have urgent vacancies. An AI-powered chatbot integrated into the site handles enquiries 24/7, captures candidate details, answers common questions about the application process, and routes urgent enquiries to the right division's inbox. Combined with the job board and portal, it forms a genuine end-to-end digital operation.

FAQs

Common questions about the Resolve build.

How much does a recruitment agency website + portal cost?

Multi-product builds at this scope sit in our higher-tier custom development — typically £5,000+ for the public site, plus separate phases for portal and integration work. The Resolve build was delivered over multiple phases against a defined feature roadmap. Custom builds are quoted per-project based on scope; get in touch with your specific brief.

How long did the Resolve project take?

Twelve weeks across multiple delivery phases. Phase one was the Wix-to-WordPress migration and public site build. Phase two was the job board and JobPosting schema setup. Phase three was the internal staff portal. Phase four added the AI chatbot integration. Multi-phase delivery lets clients see progress, give feedback, and budget builds across financial periods.

Why migrate from Wix to WordPress for a recruitment agency?

Wix is fine for static brochure sites; it isn't built to host custom internal portals, complex job boards with proper schema, or integrate AI tooling. WordPress provides a self-hosted foundation that scales to any of those use cases. The migration unlocked everything Resolve subsequently built — the portal, the chatbot, the JobPosting schema. None of it would have been possible on Wix.

What is Google JobPosting schema and why does it matter?

JobPosting is a specific type of structured data that tells Google "this is a job vacancy". When implemented correctly, Google surfaces the vacancy in the Google for Jobs panel that appears at the top of relevant search results. That's free visibility for every live vacancy on Google's job search interface — without paying third-party job board subscription fees. For an agency with active vacancies, the SEO uplift is significant.

What does the internal staff portal do?

The portal handles the day-to-day operation of the recruitment business — candidate pipeline management (where each candidate is in the application process), compliance tracking (right-to-work documents, certifications, references), document uploads, timesheet handling for placed candidates, and application processing for live vacancies. Role-based access controls who can see what. All custom-built, all owned by Resolve.

Does Mako Digital build recruitment portals for other agencies?

Yes — recruitment agencies, staffing companies, and any business that needs custom internal tooling alongside a public website. The Resolve build is the worked example of how we approach multi-product recruitment platforms. We've also built TalentLynk (multi-tenant recruitment SaaS) and JobPitch (video-first job marketplace). Get in touch with your specific scope.

Where else does Mako Digital build recruitment websites?
